About Abigail Marble
Abigail Marble has had her nose buried in one book or another from the moment she learned to read — and she started planning her career as an illustrator and author about a minute later. Though she took a big detour through the wonderful world of graphic design, she has always kept at least one eye firmly on the goal of creating children’s literature.
When her son was born, she dove deeper into illustration and writing for kids. She recently illustrated Saturdays are Special by Chris Barash for PJ Library. Past projects include cover and interior illustrations for Two for Joy by Gigi Amateau (published by Candlewick Press), My Secret Bully by Trudy Ludwig (published by Tricycle Press/Penguin Random House), and her artwork was recently included in the anthology Oregon Reads Aloud, published by West Margin Press. She has also illustrated for the educational and magazine markets.
Abigail studied art at Brown University (where she was able to take a course or two each year at the Rhode Island School of Design). She worked for many years as a graphic designer and also makes acrylic paintings and exhibits her work.
Abigail is a long-time member of the SCBWI, and has been developing manuscripts for several years as a member of 12×12. She lives with her wife and son in Portland, Oregon. They recently adopted a terrier mix named Mochi, who is a very big dog in a small dog’s body. He hopes it star in a children’s book one day soon.
