About Kari Allen
Kari Allen writes picture books and early readers. While growing up on a lake in New Hampshire, Kari spent her summers swimming and eating blackberries. She taught second grade before being a stay at home mom to two book loving boys. She is back in the classroom again and loves nothing more than sharing books with her students. Her love of teaching and writing led her to get her master’s degree from Plymouth State University in the Teaching of Writing. She works with the National Writing Project in New Hampshire coordinating workshops for teachers and students and teaching graduate courses on writing. As a member of SCBWI, Kari loves to attend local and national conferences to connect with other writers. Kari has reviewed books for the Horn Book Guide and School Library Journal’s Series Made Simple. A lover of photography, her camera is never too far away. She visits her local bookstore every chance she gets.
Kari’s debut picture book The Boy Who Loved Maps is forthcoming from Schwartz and Wade (Penguin Random House) in Spring 2021.
