About Nelly Buchet
Last seen on HBO’s Big Little Lies, Nelly Buchet is an actor and the author of CAT DOG DOG: THE STORY OF A BLENDED FAMILY (Schwartz and Wade at Penguin Random House, 2020, with illustrations by Andrea Zuill). Kirkus gives this “clever, winning read-aloud for modern families” a starred review, as does the Bulletin for the Center of Children’s Books. CAT DOG DOG is a Junior Library Guild, 2020 Indie Next List, and Amazon Best of 2020 selection.
Bonnier UK will publish Nelly’s new CAN’T DO board book series, illustrated by Paulina Morgan, in 2021. With compassion and humor, each book shows how even the smallest of us can deal with a meltdown–whether our own or someone else’s. These four funny and heartfelt stories are for every kid who’s lost it over the first day of school or which socks to wear.
Born and raised in Paris, Nelly holds a degree in philosophy from McGill University in Montreal, where she created a nonprofit project that brings books to refugee children in orphanages and community centers. For her work she was awarded a Dalai Lama Fellowship and Quebec’s most generous grant recognizing youth entrepreneurship and social justice.
She has taught nonviolent conflict resolution in schools and has spoken at the International Children’s Book Fair in Bologna, Italy, the Ethical Leadership Assembly in the Bay Area, and ForceAVENIR in Quebec City, Canada.
Nelly is a member of the Screen Actors Guild and the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. She is represented by Hen&ink Literary Studio, the Booking Biz, Principal Entertainment LA, and NOMA Talents. She lives in Berlin.
